Outside Christmas Decorations For the Holidays

Christmas decorations should not stop with the indoor variety. If you can, you should do some outdoor decorating as well. It makes your neighborhood look nice. It gives your neighbors, as well as passer by’s something nice to look at, it gives you a reason to be proud and it is just plain fun decorating.

You really do not have to spend tons of money, either. You don’t have to decorate every corner of your house. If you just decorate part of your house, say your front porch and the rest of the front area, it can be enough decorating. Of course, if you have the extra money or if you find some great deals on decorations, there is nothing wrong with decorating your entire front yard and your entire house.

As with any project, as you begin thinking about decorating and forming your plans, begin with paper and pen. Make a list of what you need. You may even want to go through your decorations you all ready have. Many items will last for many years, if you take care of them properly.

After you gather your products, remember one vital thing, not all decorations are made for the outside. Look at the attached tags and make sure all lights and all other electric items are actually made for the outdoors. If the item is an indoor decoration, do not use it. Indoor decorations are not made for the outside climate. They are not made for moisture and are a fire hazard. You don’t want a fire to ruin your holiday season or anybody else’s. You also should examine all plug ins. They need to be in good shape and all wires should be in good shape, no frays or cuts in them. If you see a cut, throw away the product. You may be tempted to tape it up with electrical tape. Resist the urge. Moisture could still get inside and a fire could occur.

Be sure to add outside lights to your list. It doesn’t matter what style you use. They can be rope style, bigger, older, looking style lights or twinkling lights. Before you go to the bother of hanging them up, be sure they all actually work and that they blink, if they are suppose to blink. Do this before you start climbing that ladder. Speaking of ladders, make sure it is safe and securely positioned on the ground before climbing. Now begin placing the lights in all those wonderful places. You can buy special clips or you can make your own holders using nails and strong rope. Hang them in any way that you like best.

Finally, do not forget to decorate your porch a bit. String some garland on the porch banisters. Hang a pretty wreath from your front door. Place an outside Santa or Snowman in your yard. Then stand back and enjoy your final creation, your own festive look, with your own Outside Christmas Decorations.

Children’s Christmas Make – Cardboard Nativity Scene

General Comments Off
Adoration of the Wise Men by Murillo
Image via Wikipedia

The nativity and the birth of Jesus Christ are the fundamental part of Christmas. It’s the story of Mary and Joseph travelling to Bethlehem to be counted for the census. Poor Mary was heavily pregnant and had to ride on a donkey. When they got to Bethlehem all the inns were full, and Mary and Joseph spent the night in a stable, where Mary gave birth to Jesus, the Son of God. Angels, shepherds and three wise men from the east came to visit Jesus, who was lying in a manger. This is the traditional image we have of the nativity scene.

To make a cardboard nativity scene all you need is…
Loo roll tubes or other tubes, scarps of paper and coloured card, glue, scissors, felt tip pens, cotton wool, and a few sequins for decoration.

To make the figures…
The loo roll tubes for the main body of the figure. Wrap coloured paper around your tube so that it completely covers one half of the tube. This becomes the body and the bare tube becomes the figure’s head.

Cut out two small rectangles from some card, these become the arms. Stick them into place n the figure’s body, towards the top of the coloured paper. Stick a ‘D’ shaped piece of flesh coloured card on the end of the arm to form a hand.

Draw on the figure’s face with felt tip pens. You can also draw on clothing details or patterns.

Extras…
The shepherd holds a crook, its a hooked tool which shepherds use to put around a sheep’s neck as a sort of temporary lead to guide the sheep where the shepherd wants it to go. Cut a long hooked shape tool from card and stick it standing upright in the shepherds hand as though he was holding it.

The three wise men wear crowns or a turban. Cut these out of coloured paper and wrap them around the top of the wise men’s heads. Decorate them with sequins to make them look jewel encrusted.

Joseph holds a lantern. Cut a long stick with a ‘V’ shape at the top. Stick this into Joseph’s hand so that it is standing upright. This pole is to suspend the lantern from.

To make the lantern, take a small, rectangle piece of card and fold it in half so that the top and bottom of the lantern are together. Cut slits along the folded edge. Open up the card and now curve it round so that the two side edges meet and slightly overlap stick these two side edges together. When the glue has dried off a little, give the lantern a little squeeze so that the lantern forms ‘< >’ Shape. Insert a roll of flame coloured paper into the lantern, glue and trim so that it fits snugly into place. This makes the lantern glow as though it were lit. Stick on some threat or a thin strip of card so that the lantern can be hung from Joseph’s pole.

Sheep are made by covering a loo roll tube in cotton wool. Cut out a face shape from card to stick on one end of the tube. Cotton buds form the sheep’s legs and feet. Cut a cotton bud in half to form two legs, glue all the legs into position.

Jesus is made from a rolled up piece of card, with coloured paper covering his body.

The manger is made from a loo roll tube. Cut the tube in half lengthways to form two guttering looking parts. Cut one into leg type shapes on each side and stick the two half tubes together, back to back.

Arrange all the figures on a table to recreate the nativity scene.

You could also attach a thread from your figures and hang them from

Christmas Party Games – Festive Holiday Fun!

General Comments Off
party game...of DOOM!!!

Christmas party games make any holiday celebration fun. Party games get the party going and keep it going. Like most Christmas traditions, Christmas games were enjoyed throughout the centuries as an important part of holiday celebrations.

As early as the 16th century it was customary to play games at Christmas. Late medieval English law allowed servants and commoners to play games at Christmas that were forbidden the rest of the year. These games included tennis, dice, cards, billiard and others.

Christmas games enjoyed in the modern period were blindman’s bluff, feed the dove and hot cockles. In Hot Cockles each player in turn is blindfolded. The blindfolded player puts his hands behind his back, palms up. One of the other players hits the hands of the blindfolded player. The blindfolded player must guess which of the other players has hit him. If he does so correctly, he may penalize the player whom he “caught.” Those who preferred a greater mental test might retire to a game of chess, while the physically agile might challenge each other to tennis or skittles.

The English also enjoyed playing cards and gambling at Christmas time, especially with dice. During the reign of the Tudor kings, working people may have found greater pleasure in these games than the well-to-do, since they were prohibited by law from playing games except at Christmas time. In the sixteenth and 17th centuries the Puritans condemned those who celebrated Christmas by playing games and gambling.

In Victorian England parlor games remained popular Christmas entertainments throughout the 19th century. Victorians favored such games as Snapdragon, Forfeits, Hoop and Hide (Hide and Seek), charades, Blind Man’s Bluff, Queen of Sheba (a variation on Blind Man’s Bluff), and Hunt the Slipper. In Snapdragon players gathered around a bowl of currants covered with spirits. A lighted match was dropped into the bowl, setting fire to the alcohol. Players challenged one another to grab a flaming currant out of the bowl and pop it into their mouths, thus extinguishing the flames. A bit of light verse describes the fearful delights of this game:
Here he comes with flaming bowl,
Don’t he mean to take his toll,
Snip! Snap! Dragon!
Take care you don’t take too much,
Be not greedy in your clutch,
Snip! Snap! Dragon!
With his blue and lapping tongue
Many of you will be stung,
Snip! Snap! Dragon!
For he snaps at all that comes
Snatching at his feast of plums,
Snip! Snap! Dragon!
But Old Christmas makes him come,
Though he looks so fee! fa! fum!
Snip! Snap! Dragon!
Don’t ‘ee fear him, be but bold-
Out he goes, his flames are cold,
Snip! Snap! Dragon!

Players heightened the effect of the glowing, blue flames by extinguishing all other lights in the room except that cast by the burning bowl.

In Hunt the Slipper players formed a circle around one person. They held their hands behind their backs and passed a slipper around the outside of the circle. The person in the center of the circle had to guess who was in possession of the slipper at any given moment.

A number of other English Christmas games have now disappeared so completely that only their picturesque names remain behind. Folklorists cannot now say how they were played. These forgotten games include Shoeing the Wild Mare, Steal the White Loaf, Post and Pair, Feed the Dove, Puss-in-the-Corner, and The Parson Has Lost His Cloak. Before a Christmas party broke up for the evening, the sleepy guests might play one last, quaintly named game called Yawning for a Cheshire Cheese. The players sat in a circle and yawned at one another. Whoever produced the longest, most open-mouthed, and loudest yawn won a Cheshire cheese.

Christmas Games are also played in other Countries. Some traditional Christmas games are for children. In many nations Advent calendars amuse children with a kind of counting game in the weeks before Christmas. Children in Mexico often play games with pinitas at holiday season parties. In Iran youngsters play egg-tapping games at Christmas time. Most Christmas games, however, involve adults and younger people. In a number of different countries sporting matches, games of chance, or fortune-telling games are associated with one or more days of the Christmas season.

In past times Swedes used to play games with Christmas gifts, which they call Julklapp, on December 24. On St. Stephen’s Day both Swedes and Norwegians used to race horses (see Norway, Christmas in). Ethiopians celebrate Christmas Day by playing ganna, a sport that resembles hockey (see Ethiopia, Christmas in). In the United States, many people enjoy watching football bowl games on New Year’s Day. In Lithuania people entertain themselves on Christmas Eve with fortune-telling games.

Some popular Christmas games we enjoy today are Yankee Swap, Elephant Gift Exchange, cookie exchanges, caroling and others. There’s no doubt that Christmas party games still play a big part in making the season special and memorable.

15 Fast, Fun and Easy Christmas Decorating Ideas
By Lesley Dietschy

Decorating your home for the holidays does not need to be stressful or expensive. Being one of the most popular times of the year to decorate, get your family involved and have fun making your home beautiful for the holiday season.

Here are 15 Christmas decorating ideas:

1. Display your favorite Christmas collections. If you don’t have a collection, now is a great time to start! My son and I collect nutcrackers and every year we have a wonderful time selecting just the right one. With a permanent marker, I write the year on the bottom of the nutcracker. Not only do we enjoy looking at the nutcrackers during the holidays, we also enjoy the fond memories of selecting them.

2. Make simple bows out of Christmas ribbons and attach them to your curtains with pins. This is a very charming look.

3. Decorate your house plants by hanging small Christmas ornaments on them.

4. Place a collection of Christmas books on your coffee table.

5. Fill a glass bowl with pine cones and Christmas balls and place on a shelf or table.

6. Wrap your staircase banister with indoor Christmas lights, garland, and bows.

7. To add scent throughout your home, tie 5 or 6 cinnamon sticks together in a bundle using Christmas ribbon. Make as many bundles as you wish and place around your home in baskets or bowls.

8. To decorate your table, tie Christmas ribbon to the stems of glasses and/or handles of cutlery.

9. To dress up your chairs, tie Christmas bows around the chair so that the bow is on the back of the chair.

10. Using a small brush or q-tip, paint the edges of pine cones with glittery gold craft paint. After the pine cones dry, place them in a decorative basket.

11. Add Christmas garland to door frames, window frames and mirrors. You can use tape to secure the garland to the surfaces.

12. Tie bows around door knobs using festive and colorful Christmas ribbon.

13. Attach garland and Christmas bows to your chandelier. You can also weave strings of red beads in the garland that will dangle down from your chandelier and reflect the light, which will add sparkle.

14. If you live in a milder climate, consider decorating with Amaryllis plants. These beautiful plants come in red and white, grow tall, and provide a very elegant look.

15. Don’t forget to decorate your fireplace mantel and hang your Christmas stockings. A few fireplace mantel decorating ideas are adding garland, different styles and sizes of Santas, teddy bears, and candles. You can also display your favorite nativity scene if you have a large enough mantel.

Be creative with your fireplace mantel because most mantels are the focal point during the holiday season. Another decorating idea for your mantel is to purchase a bunch of miniature rosemary trees shaped like Christmas trees, add mini ornaments to them and line them up across your mantel. These miniature rosemary trees are readily available during the holidays and come in festive containers.

Christmas decorating is a great time to create traditions and spend quality time with your family. Get out some snacks and drinks and create a little “decorating party” that your family will love and look forward to year after year.

Happy Holidays!

Classic Christmas Songs

General Comments Off

Christmas songs are as assorted and diverse as anything I can think of. But what exactly do I mean by that statement? Well just think about the incredible variety of Christmas songs that have been produced throughout the years and I think you’ll agree. If you grew up in snowy regions you may recall going for sleigh rides or caroling around a snow-covered tree.

Of course, roasting chestnuts on an open fire is something you may have not only done, but also listened to Bing Crosby saying about. And of course hearing sleigh bells in the snow and dreaming of a white Christmas are ageless lyrics that will endure forever.
If you had any number of Christmases from 1969 through the early seventies, the early eighties, the early nineties, or the early oughts—that is, through the Vietnam, Granada, Gulf War, and current wars you may think of how much meaning the song I’ll be home for Christmas has. And who can forget all of those wonderful Perry Como and Bing Crosby Christmas specials that were filled with beautiful Christmas songs.

And, of course, many of us will fondly recall at least an earful of kids’ songs, chattered by The Chipmunks, lead vocalist Alvin notwithstanding; “All I Want for Christmas (is My Two Front Teeth);” and the racy “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.”

But Christmas songs like so many other things continue to evolve. From the beautiful and stirring classics like “O Holy Night” (which is my personal favorite) and “Little Drummer Boy,” sung by cute little kids in Christmas pageants or pious choirs once a year without fail and simple ditties about food and presents and figgy pudding and nog, Christmas songs have gone into penetrating, challenging, bonding, and spiritually elevating realms. Just hearing the sounds can bring back
a flood of wonderful memories.

John Lennon, I think, started the trend of a Christmas song with a higher consciousness—with “And so this is Christmas, and what have you done?” and “And so this is Christmas (war is over), for weak and for strong (if you want it), the rich and the poor ones, the road is so long….” Imagine (or remember) how those frolicky, campy, or solemn and religious Christmas songs now had the words “war” and “fight” directly stated rather than implied? This just goes to show you that even Christmas songs can contain political statements just as they contain statements of peace and love.

And then came the unusual duo or unlikely star remake trends for Christmas songs, which were, really, equally moving: Bing Crosby joined David Bowie to remake “The Little Drummer Boy.” Which is one of my all-time favorite songs, by the way. And how about the king, Elvis Presley belting out “Blue Christmas”, how could you not love that?

And for a few years we have strayed from lyrics, per se, and have indulged in the saintly sounds of chanting Monks. I love these original options, as much as I still get chills when I hear original or other versions of those songs that had such limited meaning when I was kid doing solos for the elementary school parents. Everyone is different of course, and our tastes in Christmas songs is no exception. But for my money I’ll take the old classics because as I see it these are not only beautiful Christmas songs but some of the sweetest sounds you’ll ever hear.

children's nativity

Enliven the spirit of Christmas with a couple of fun games for children. Here are two delightful Christmas party games that can be played with any number of children.

Sea King Christmas Party Game
In the Sea King Christmas party game, one player is selected to play the role of the “Sea King” whose duty is to stand in the center of a circle, formed by the rest of the players seated around him. The circle should be as large as possible. The game continues with each player choosing the name of a fish. The ‘Sea King’ runs around the circle calling each player by his/her fish name.

As the King calls out their names, each player gets up and follows the Sea King. Once all his subjects have left their seats, the sea king calls out, “The sea is troubled”, and sits on a seat immediately. Following his example, his subjects also rapidly seat themselves. The player who fails to get a seat has to take the place of the Sea King and the game continues.

Sally Water Christmas Party Game
Sally Water Christmas party game is an enjoyable game, with a lot of singing and dancing involved. Children will love to play this Christmas party game. The game begins with the formation of a circle by all the children except one little girl who kneels in the center. The children then dance around the girl singing the following rhyme.

“Sally, Sally Water, sprinkle in the pan,
Rise, Sally, rise, Sally, for a young man;
Choose for the best and choose for the worst,
And choose the very one you love the most.
Now you’re married I wish you joy,
First a girl and then a boy;
Seven years after, son and daughter,
Pray, young couple, come kiss together.”

When the second line is sung, the child in the center rises with the cue “Rise, Sally!” and chooses another child from the circle. The children then sing the remaining lines of the verse and the two children in the circle dance round and kiss. Sally then joins the circle while the second child remains there and plays as Sally. The Christmas party game continues and goes on till all the children have acted the role of Sally.

Christmas Party Games For Kids of All Ages!

RR banner-Received!

Everyone loves a Christmas Party, and Christmas Party Games are great ice breakers as well as fantastic, fun entertainment! The following Christmas Party Games are great for kids Christmas Parties, but could probably be adapted to family settings as well.

Round Robin Christmas Games!

A simple variation on the more traditional Round Robin game is to simply add a Christmas Flair! Arrange guests in a circle. Have some prearranged, Christmas themed starters such as “”Santa likes “”Sam”" (substitute one of your guests names) because”" and instruct each person to add a phrase afterwards. Have an adult who is a quick writer ready to take down the phrases, so they can be read as a story when each guest has a turn, and be sure each person knows to add a word such as ‘and’, ‘when’, ‘because’ etc. and be ready to help by adding these words yourself, if your guests are very young. You will be surprised at how funny these stories become as each guest adds his or her contribution to this Christmas version of the traditional Round Robin!

Christmas Whispers Game

This game is sure to leave everyone laughing! Have phrase cards made ahead of time. Increase the complexity of the phrases the older the guests are. Obviously a younger guest list will require simple sentences.

Just make sure your sentences are Christmas themed and somewhat unusual. (One example sentence would be: “”Santa Clause ate some cookies and milk, and he shared them with Comet, Cupid, and Vixen, but forgot to give any to the other reindeer, so Mrs. Clause made some especially for them!”") Begin by whispering this Christmas phrase to the first person in the line. Have each person whisper the sentence to the next person in line, and see how much everyone laughs when the last person says the phrase and then you read what the phrase was initially.

Christmas Party Games do not have to be complex to be fun, in fact, the more simple the game, the better most guests seem to like them, and the less work they are for you!

The Twilight Saga is Full of Unique Twilight Party Ideas

General Comments Off
Twilight Werewolf Kibble Recipe Labels

Are you planning a party based on the Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer? With the books selling over 40 million copies in over 37 countries, Twilight party ideas are going to be very hot this year. Why not start planning your Twilight Party right now.

Twilight Party Invitations

Can you write using Calligraphy? If so, you can copy the lovely font, Carmilla, and write out your invitations in script that looks like Edward’s handwriting. Use antique looking paper and take your party guests back to 1918…Edward’s era. Use Twilight Clip Art you can find online to decorate your invitations. Add all the important party info , such as:

  • Who
  • What
  • Where
  • When
  • RSVP

Get those mailed right out, and now it’s on to other party planning chores.

Twilight Party Decorations

Life size stand ups of Bella and Edward can be purchased online if you’d like to have these two love birds at your party. Imagine the look on everyone’s face as they walk into your party and see Edward and Bella! What a great start to your party decorating! These life size cut outs also come with James, Laurent and Victoria…the nomadic vampires, who cause all the trouble in Twilight. Can’t afford the cut outs? Or don’t want to spend that much money on party decorations? Find pictures of Bella, Edward, Alice, Jasper and the rest of the Twilight Cast in magazines. Cut out the pages and put the pics into photo frames. Scatter them around your party room as though they are the people who live there.

Since the Cullen Family are vegetarians…which means, in vampire talk, that they only drink the blood of animals, your party’s decor doesn’t have to be the same old bloody, scary Count Dracula Vampire Halloween style decor that we are used to. The Cullen’s are a refined family with style, grace and taste.

Many of the party supplies you can use for a Twilight party might be things you already have. How nice will it be able to use decorating items you have and not have to buy more!

Alice Would Use Twinkle Lights

If you remember anything about the parties Alice decorated for, it was all roses and thousands of twinkling lights. So, there’s your first party decorating tip… twinkle lights . You can get them in white, or you can be daring and bold with red and black ones. Red and black is a pretty daring decorating statement. Very dramatic. You can use the ideas on the Twilight Saga book covers…Twilight-An apple (red and black), New Moon-A red and white Parrot Tulip (red, white and black), Eclipse-A red satin ribbon against a black background (red and black), and Breaking Dawn- a white Chess piece, the Queen symbolizing Bella, against the black background (white and black). All of these color schemes will work to create a very intense background for your Twilight Saga Party.

Use a Black Table Cloth with white or red dishes. Use white linen napkins and wrap each place setting of silverware in them. Tie them with a red satin ribbon. Place a glass vase on the center of the table and fill it with red and white Parrot tulips… or the roses Alice likes so much.

The Twilight Saga As Decorations

Scatter several copies of the Twilight books around the room. You can use the book covers themselves as decorations. You can set a dish of apples on a table, and have some white chess pieces on the tables around the room. Lay some red satin ribbons on those tables too. You can fill glass cylinders with some shiny Christmas balls. Fill one with black balls, and the other with red.
Twinkle lights will let you keep your regular lights on low and create an intimate feeling. Play the Twilight Sound track and clear an area so those who want to dance can. Keep the music low, so conversations can be heard!

Trivia Games Made From The Twilight Saga

If you are like me, you know all the books of the Saga backwards and forwards. Then you don’t have to look for Twilight party games…you can make your own. Just think of all the most interesting facts about the books and characters that you can. Write it down, followed by the answer. An example is: Who turned Jasper? The answer is: Maria. Or where was Alice waiting for Jasper? The diner in Philadelphia. I am amazed by Alice this week, that’s why these trivia questions are about her and Jazz. I am always dazzled by Edward. Where did Edward take Bella on their honeymoon? The answer is : Isle Esme. See how easy it is to make your own trivia game!

Twilight Party Music Ideas – The Soundtrack to the Twilight Movie of course! You can buy the soundtrack, or you can download some of the songs for free. Try a site like Rhapsody.com. You can also play albums of the groups on the soundtrack. The tunes and groups include:

1. Supermassive Black Hole ~Muse
2. Decode ~Paramore
3. Full Moon ~The Black Ghosts
4. Leave Out All The Rest ~Linkin Park
5. Spotlight [Twilight Mix] ~Mutemath
6. Go All The Way [Into the Twilight]
7. Tremble For My Beloved ~Collective Soul
8. I Caught Myself ~Paramore

Twilight Party Food Thoughts

Now what to serve as a party menu for a Twilight Party? I am not a cooking kind of girl, so I always try to go for the easiest party foods out there. I like Pizza and Subs…or a lunch meat tray and rolls. But if you’re looking for some sophisticated vampire party menu…I’ll give you one. How about:

A red soup…tomato, mushroom ravioli served with some grilled chicken breasts in red sauce. Not bad for a chick who doesn’t cook much! Tasty Cullen Punch and Vampire Cupcakes A drink idea is a red punch, call it

Cullen Punch and serve it in a crystal punch bowl of course. Desserts are easier for me…Vampire cupcakes. Red velvet cupcakes with white icing…with two tiny red puncture marks on each one. These are very nice looking…not gory at all. The Cullen Coven would like them!As you can see, these suggestions can help you plan a sophisticated party and a dramatic decorating scheme when you use Twilight Saga Party Ideas.

Christmas Party Ideas on a Budget

Are you looking for some frugal Christmas party ideas? Throwing a festive Christmas party is one of the best ways to celebrate the season, but that doesn’t mean that you have to break your budget to have fun. There are many different ways that you can celebrate affordably, so that you can ring in the New Year without worrying about debt. These Christmas party ideas will help you plan your bash, and will also help you stick to your budget.

The first thing that you need to do is decide who is going to attend. If you have a large family, then you may want to make sure that you ask for RSVPs, so that you won’t waste money buying food and favors for anyone who isn’t planning on attending. You will want to send your invitations at least two weeks in advance, so that you will know the exact number of people that you need to prepare for.

One of the best Christmas party ideas is to send email invitations to everyone who has internet access on your list, saving traditional invitations for anyone who can’t be contacted via email. If you don’t hear back from your email guests, then just give them a short call to see if they are planning on attending, or not.

A Christmas party is one of the places where you will expect great food, but when you are on a budget you may want to try something different than a traditional meal, especially if you have a large number of people coming over. One of the classic Christmas party ideas is to have a potluck, where each member of the group brings something to the party.

If you want to treat your guests, then you may want to choose another way to stay in your budget, and still have delicious food. If you are planning your party for a weekend, then you can always have a lunch party, where you can serve finger foods and drinks for much less than you could a dinner. Sliders with fresh vegetables and a dip are all excellent choices for a lunch party, especially if you have a decadent Christmas dessert to top it off.

Other Christmas party ideas focus around healthy food such as seasonal fruits and fresh veggies for a nice change of pace from traditional, calorie laden Christmas foods. While you may be tempted to buy fruit and veggie trays from your deli to save time, you will save money if you buy a festive tray for a few dollars and then prepare the foods yourself.

If you are having a low-key family Christmas party, then you can be extremely creative with the entertainment for the party. For kids, one of the best Christmas party ideas is to set up a small crafts table, where the little kids can make something to take home.

You can stock the table with clay, crayons, white paper and the basics such as construction paper, scissors and glue. You can also add some seasonal supplies, such as glitter, but you might want to stay away from paints unless you want to spend a little time cleaning the mess. If you have a crafty family, then the adults may end up having just as much fun as the little ones!

If you have the option of exchanging presents, but want to keep the costs down, then you may want to draw names or set a cap on the costs of a gift. Gift giving Christmas party ideas such as drawing names are the number one way to keep costs down.
