new year FUN

Make decorating your home for New Year’s Eve party a pleasure instead of a stressful nightmare. Organization and planning helps you keep on top of your New Year’s Eve party.

Create a gorgeous party planning notebook with an inexpensive plastic three-ring binder that has a space to insert an inspirational picture. Keep cutouts from magazines of ideas you love about decorating, themes, menus, and recipes. Keep notes about your party afterwards so you remember what worked well and what to do differently next year. Your personal party journal will be an invaluable assistant to help you avoid holiday stress.

New Year’s Eve Decorating

Enjoy your home decorating for New Year’s Eve. Don’t try to do too much. Keep in mind that people love to come to homes decked out in festive array but that it doesn’t take a lot of cluttering ornamentation to create a joy filled room. Just a few large decorations can add the desired impact without taking a lot of time to set out. Plus, too many little decorations get lost when you have many people standing around.

Where to decorate for impact:

1. Your front walkway: Greet guests at the entrance with lights surrounding your front door and two large floral arrangements or evergreen trees.

2. Your front door: A large swag of evergreen decorated with nuts, apples, raffia, and ribbon spiced up with cinnamon sticks and cloves makes a different statement than the usual wreath.

3. Your dining table: If you plan a sit-down dinner, avoid tall centerpieces that interfere with guests seeing across the table. White table cloths reflect the light, add a feeling of elegance, and don’t interfere with colored china. Bold colors add drama. Have fun with your table decorations.

4. Look up: Because table decorations get in the way, add decorations above archways and doors.

5. Your powder room: Because guests use this room privately, they take the time to look around and notice decorations.

If your TV looks like a black hole in your room when it’s off, play an old black and white classic movie with the sound turned off.

Enjoy your New Year’s Eve decorating this year. Try some new ideas and keep a party planner for next year. You’ll be ready for new holiday decorating ideas!

The Twilight Saga is Full of Unique Twilight Party Ideas

Are you planning a party based on the Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer? With the books selling over 40 million copies in over 37 countries, Twilight party ideas are going to be very hot this year. Why not start planning your Twilight Party right now.

Twilight Party Invitations

Can you write using Calligraphy? If so, you can copy the lovely font, Carmilla, and write out your invitations in script that looks like Edward’s handwriting. Use antique looking paper and take your party guests back to 1918…Edward’s era. Use Twilight Clip Art you can find online to decorate your invitations. Add all the important party info , such as:

  • Who
  • What
  • Where
  • When
  • RSVP

Get those mailed right out, and now it’s on to other party planning chores.

Twilight Party Decorations

Life size stand ups of Bella and Edward can be purchased online if you’d like to have these two love birds at your party. Imagine the look on everyone’s face as they walk into your party and see Edward and Bella! What a great start to your party decorating! These life size cut outs also come with James, Laurent and Victoria…the nomadic vampires, who cause all the trouble in Twilight. Can’t afford the cut outs? Or don’t want to spend that much money on party decorations? Find pictures of Bella, Edward, Alice, Jasper and the rest of the Twilight Cast in magazines. Cut out the pages and put the pics into photo frames. Scatter them around your party room as though they are the people who live there.

Since the Cullen Family are vegetarians…which means, in vampire talk, that they only drink the blood of animals, your party’s decor doesn’t have to be the same old bloody, scary Count Dracula Vampire Halloween style decor that we are used to. The Cullen’s are a refined family with style, grace and taste.

Many of the party supplies you can use for a Twilight party might be things you already have. How nice will it be able to use decorating items you have and not have to buy more!

Alice Would Use Twinkle Lights

If you remember anything about the parties Alice decorated for, it was all roses and thousands of twinkling lights. So, there’s your first party decorating tip… twinkle lights . You can get them in white, or you can be daring and bold with red and black ones. Red and black is a pretty daring decorating statement. Very dramatic. You can use the ideas on the Twilight Saga book covers…Twilight-An apple (red and black), New Moon-A red and white Parrot Tulip (red, white and black), Eclipse-A red satin ribbon against a black background (red and black), and Breaking Dawn- a white Chess piece, the Queen symbolizing Bella, against the black background (white and black). All of these color schemes will work to create a very intense background for your Twilight Saga Party.

Use a Black Table Cloth with white or red dishes. Use white linen napkins and wrap each place setting of silverware in them. Tie them with a red satin ribbon. Place a glass vase on the center of the table and fill it with red and white Parrot tulips… or the roses Alice likes so much.

The Twilight Saga As Decorations

Scatter several copies of the Twilight books around the room. You can use the book covers themselves as decorations. You can set a dish of apples on a table, and have some white chess pieces on the tables around the room. Lay some red satin ribbons on those tables too. You can fill glass cylinders with some shiny Christmas balls. Fill one with black balls, and the other with red.
Twinkle lights will let you keep your regular lights on low and create an intimate feeling. Play the Twilight Sound track and clear an area so those who want to dance can. Keep the music low, so conversations can be heard!

Trivia Games Made From The Twilight Saga

If you are like me, you know all the books of the Saga backwards and forwards. Then you don’t have to look for Twilight party games…you can make your own. Just think of all the most interesting facts about the books and characters that you can. Write it down, followed by the answer. An example is: Who turned Jasper? The answer is: Maria. Or where was Alice waiting for Jasper? The diner in Philadelphia. I am amazed by Alice this week, that’s why these trivia questions are about her and Jazz. I am always dazzled by Edward. Where did Edward take Bella on their honeymoon? The answer is : Isle Esme. See how easy it is to make your own trivia game!

Twilight Party Music Ideas – The Soundtrack to the Twilight Movie of course! You can buy the soundtrack, or you can download some of the songs for free. Try a site like Rhapsody.com. You can also play albums of the groups on the soundtrack. The tunes and groups include:

1. Supermassive Black Hole ~Muse
2. Decode ~Paramore
3. Full Moon ~The Black Ghosts
4. Leave Out All The Rest ~Linkin Park
5. Spotlight [Twilight Mix] ~Mutemath
6. Go All The Way [Into the Twilight]
7. Tremble For My Beloved ~Collective Soul
8. I Caught Myself ~Paramore
9. Eyes On Fire ~Blue Foundation
10. Never Think ~Rob Pattinson
11. Flightless Bird, American Mouth ~Iron & Wine
12. Bella’s Lullaby ~Carter Burwell

Twilight Party Food Thoughts

Now what to serve as a party menu for a Twilight Party? I am not a cooking kind of girl, so I always try to go for the easiest party foods out there. I like Pizza and Subs…or a lunch meat tray and rolls. But if you’re looking for some sophisticated vampire party menu…I’ll give you one. How about:

A red soup…tomato, mushroom ravioli served with some grilled chicken breasts in red sauce. Not bad for a chick who doesn’t cook much! Tasty Cullen Punch and Vampire Cupcakes A drink idea is a red punch, call it

Cullen Punch and serve it in a crystal punch bowl of course. Desserts are easier for me…Vampire cupcakes. Red velvet cupcakes with white icing…with two tiny red puncture marks on each one. These are very nice looking…not gory at all. The Cullen Coven would like them!As you can see, these suggestions can help you plan a sophisticated party and a dramatic decorating scheme when you use Twilight Saga Party Ideas.

Christmas Party Games – Plan a Merry Event!

Christmas – games, parties and fun! Who can resist the joys of the holiday season all the decorations, traditions, contagious cheer and endless parties! If the holiday spirit has swayed you into hosting a Christmas party you’ve come to the right place! With a little planning you can host a memorable Holiday soiree that will be remembered long into the new year!

It’s Just Around the Corner – Plan Early!

In case you haven’t noticed (but we’re sure you have), the month of December is crazy busy and gets crazier as Christmas comes near. Best advice on this topic is to PLAN EARLY! Planning in November will assure you have time to organize the party and still tackle your own Christmas “To-do” list. You’ll also be able to get the invitations out before your guest Christmas calendars fill up.

Mind the Pocketbook – Set a Budget

The first, and most important, step is to set a budget! Determine how much you can comfortably spend. Setting a budget (and sticking to it) will not only keep some Christmas cash in your pocket but will also help guide your party planning decisions.

The Whole Crew and Aunt Sue Too – Make the Guest List

Be realistic about how many guest you can handle. Take into account the size of your place and the work involved in entertaining a group. Remember too that ’tis the season to be jolly and someone will likely bring an extra guest or two. Better to have a shorter list of closest friends and family unless you plan to have some hosting help and can afford to feed and entertain a larger crowd.

Any Day Now – Choose a Day and Time

‘Tis the season for full social calendars so choose your date early and wisely. If possible, it’s best to give guest at least three weeks notice. Saturday is usually the best day for most people to attend but Sunday can be good too. Remember to consider your schedule, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to prepare for the party and tend to your Christmas “To-do” list.

It’s All about the Food – Plan the Menu

Your budget, guest list and party time will help guide this step. You can choose a potluck event a catered affair or anything in between. Perhaps a formal dinner and invite guest to bring their favorite dessert. The only rule on party food is the time of the party. If the hours of your party include the dinner hour you should serve heavier entree foods. Evening parties can serve lighter to heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts. Don’t forget the beverages! Alcoholic drinks are not mandatory so don’t feel obligated to serve them. Perhaps wine options are a better fit for your affair. If you do offer alcoholic drinks be sure to have alternatives for those who don’t drink and designated drivers. Keep the bar drinks simple to avoid the added work of playing bar-tender and the extra expense of stocking the bar. Should any of your guests have one-too-many be sure they do not drive home.

Get the Party Started – Plan the Fun

Above all else your Christmas party should be fun! Plan fun activities to get the party started and keep it going.

- Christmas party games. Games are a great way to get your guest talking and mingling.

- Trim the tree. Have all your tree decorations out and let your guest trim your tree.

- Christmas caroling. Take the party outside and sing carols for your neighbors.

- Decorate cookies. Prepare a table with cookie icings and sprinkles and let your guest decorate the cookies. They get to take their decorated cookies home.

- Exchange gifts. Either secret Santa or grab bag style. Be sure to include this on your invitations along with a spending limit.

Ya’ll Come – Send the Invitations

Now that the party plans are in place, it’s time to send out the invitations. Remember, three weeks notice (or more) is best so get those out ASAP!

It’s the Thought that Counts – Party Favors

This is not always necessary but it is nice to give each guest some small token of thanks for their attendance. This can be as simple as a slice of cake to-go to a beautifully wrapped party favor gift. Again the watch cry is…budget!

Count Down – Final Steps

Shop for decor and party accessory items 2 weeks before. This will give you time to find any items that prove hard to locate. If you plan to order Christmas party games or other party supplies online, shop three to four weeks before the party.

Buy Food items and beverages the night before the party. Also, prepare any food that can be prepared ahead of time the night before. This will give you time to decorate, prepare food and get ready for your guest.

There you have it, plans for a event full of Christmas party games and merriment! Have fun and remember, no matter what the budget or theme your guest will appreciate the time spent sharing the season’s joys with family and friends Above all else, keep it fun and you can’t go wrong!
